Corporate Director Special Projects and Memory Care
Laurel Hammer joined GenCare in 2012, as the Corporate Director of Operations, bringing her keen analytical mind, problem-solving ability, and genuine passion for working with people of wisdom: our seniors. Her expertise in developing and implementing systems and policies and procedures, has helped her to be very successful in her roles. Now that GenCare has added Memory Care, Laurel has chosen to focus on her passion of serving and supporting those residents, families, and the staff that serve them. Continuing to work on new projects allows her innovative and creative skills to be utilized.
For over more than 30 years in the industry, Laurel has held key management positions in both large senior living national companies, and locally-owned smaller entities. She has served as Chief Operations Officer, Director of Alzheimer’s Services, Regional Director of Operations, and an Executive Director. As a Regional Director of Operations for a national operator of senior living, Laurel managed over 1000 units in western Washington and was responsible for their continually increasing success.
Her accolades include winning the coveted Pinnacle Award for the top performing community in the nation after being recruited by Marriott International as a General Manager. She went on to become an Area Director, and Director of Alzheimer's Services for Marriott, opening and training programs across the country.
Laurel received a Master of Education in Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education & Health at Seattle Pacific University, then began her first career as a high school teacher and coach. Laurel still coaches team concepts, working together, goal setting, and positive thinking. She has always believed that it’s the staff/team and their character that create success. Laurel enjoys sports, remodeling, and repurposing used items.
